How to keep motivated

They call it work for a reason. Sometimes no matter how much you enjoy your job, you can’t be fully motivated every hour of every day. When work begins to get you down, how can you may sure you stay on top of things and keep motivated?

Read our tips below:

Keep to-do lists

To-do lists are important, not only for keeping yourself organised but for keeping yourself motivated during the working week. If you have a list of targets to complete by Friday (or whenever you finish) you’re more likely to keep yourself on track. A to-do list could either be on your phone, computer or on paper – just make it as accessible as possible.

Reward yourself for completing your goals

Once you’ve hit your weekly goals make sure to reward yourself. You could either take a break from work, treat yourself to something new or do something you enjoy. Pick rewards that’ll make you happy and keep you going throughout the week.

Aim for balance

Whilst work is important, make sure it doesn’t take over your life completely. Aim for a suitable work-life balance to keep yourself happy – and therefore, keep yourself motivated. Regular breaks are also important. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you’ve got a lot going on and short breaks between work will help minimize the stress, keeping you on form and motivated.

Rationally reflect on your work

Don’t be hard on yourself. Take a look at what you’ve accomplished during the week and see what you did and didn’t do well. You’re only human, and everyone will fail at some point – so put that failures behind you and move on. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses and accepting them will help keep you motivated.
