Why should you use online learning resources?
There are many benefits of online learning resources. First of all they are very simple to use and allow you to access required materials at any convenient time. All you need is a computer and internet connection. You can review videos as many times as you want. For example if you study Fashion you may wish to study Principles of Design course. But you can also learn some general useful skills, for example advanced Excel.
What resources could you use for online learning?
Internet is full of diverse resources that can be used for online learning. Some of them are free and the others require you to pay. YouTube is a great place to start. It allows you to browse through variety of videos for free. You can subscribe to different channels, which usually offer continuity of learning. Some videos and authors are more popular than the others so it is worth to do some research.
The other great online learning platform is Coursera. This website will allow you to attend various online university courses for free. The institutions, which offer the courses are usually high profile such as: Harvard University. The Coursera is better than YouTube in a sense that it includes not only videos or assignments but also allows virtual interactions with other classmates. Although many resources at Coursera are free, if you want to obtain a certificate of completion at the end of your course, you may be required to pay.
Lynda.com and online learning
This summer EThames Graduate School bought access to Lynda.com. At the moment only staff is learning and testing the system but in September it will be also available for of students. Because Lynda.com is a licensed service, all videos and materials are great quality. In addition all courses are organised intuitively and they are user friendly. You can use one course for example to learn how to use Photoshop or you can choose a path to become a graphic designer. You can also download a mobile application, which allows you to watch videos offline. By the end of the course you will be granted a certificate, which can be shared on your Linked-in profile. We strongly recommend you to take advantage of Lynda.com when it becomes available for you.
